There were no surprises after the first round of the Austin Men’s City Open Saturday.

Playing in rain and wet conditions throughout the day, seven-time champ Tim Duren shot a two-under par 69 at Ramsey Golf Club for a two stroke lead.

Hot on his heels is his son and former caddie, Brian , who is tied for second with a 71. The other players in second place are last year’s runner up Chris Larson and three-time City Open champ Joe Kroc, the only Ramsey Golf Club member among the top four contenders.

Not far off the top four are Jeremy Dudycha (73), who tied for third last year, Josh Usgaard (73), and Adam Plotts (73), the youngest player in the tournament.

Defending champion and two-time winner Greg Denisen shot a 75.

Tim Duren, who last won in the City Open in 1997, is coming off one of his worst performances in the City Open last year when he shot an 82 and a 77.
