The Hayfield girls basketball team couldn’t hold on to a lead as it lost to Mountain-Iron-Buhl (15-1 overall) 64-56 in the Hayfield Showcase Saturday.

The Vikings (12-3 overall) held a 48-41 lead in the second half, but the Rangers used a 13-0 run to take the lead for good.

Carrie Rutledge had 20 points for Hayfield, which was playing without its leading scorer Maggie Streightiff, who is out with an injury.

“We missed a few easy ones that really could have given us a cushion in the first half,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said. “We’ve just got to find a way to put the ball in the basket a little bit.”
