Austin man gets new drug charges

Diontae Emory Dowdell, 32, of Austin was charged with felony third-degree drug sales of a narcotic on Thursday in Mower County District Court.

According to the court complaint, narcotics officers met with an informant who arranged to buy heroin from Dowdell.

The informant met with Dowdell at a residence in the 800 block of 10th Avenue Southwest and gave him the money. Another suspected drug dealer ,Jordan Tashawn Travis, arrived 30 minutes later with the heroin. Dowdell gave him the informant’s money.

The informant met with police at a predetermined location and surrendered .69 grams of heroin.

Dowdell was on pretrial release for two charges of felony fifth-degree drug possession. He is scheduled for an initial court appearance on Oct. 12. Travis, who was recently charged with felony second-degree drug sale of a schedule I or II narcotic in a school zone and three counts of felony third-degree drug sale of a narcotic, is scheduled for an initial court appearance on Oct. 9.
