Alumni Update: Austin grads are running strong

CROSS COUNTRY

Austin grad Madison Overby, a freshman at the University of North Dakota, competed in the Montana State Bozeman Running Company Invite recently.

Overby finished 86h in the meet with a time of 19:10 for the Fighting Hawks.

Austin grad McKenzie Besel, a senior at Southwest Minnesota State University, had her best run of the year at the Bob Waxlax Invite in Sauk Rapids recently.

Besel finished 48th overall with a time of 25:35.1.

VOLLEYBALL

Austin grad Kelsey Sederquest and Hayfield grad Savanna Cordle are both members of the Waldorf University volleyball team.

Sederquest has 141 digs in 15 matches for the Warriors (15-14 overall) and Cordle has 4 kills in 7 matches.

Austin grad Marissa Hart and LeRoy-Ostrander grad Sam Siskow are both members of the Riverland Community College volleyball team.

Siskow has a team-high 160 kills, 125 digs and 16 blocks for the Blue Devils (4-15 overall) and Hart has a team-high 305 set assists, to go along with 71 digs and 39 kills.

Hayfield grad Jo Bungum and Blooming Prairie grad Lauren Larkoski are both members of the RCTC volleyball team.

Bungum has a team-high 363 digs to go along with 65 kills for the Yellowjackets (11-13 overall) and Larkoski has 61 digs.

FOOTBALL

Austin grad Connor Sheehan had 1 interception, 1 tackle and 2 pass break ups in a 31-28 loss to Bemidji State University Oct. 8.

On the season, Sheehan has 15 tackles, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, 6 passes defensed and 1 TD for the Wolves (3-3 overall).

Grand Meadow grad Caleb Leichtnam had five tackles in a 48-28 loss for Southwest Minnesota State University in a 48-28 loss to the University of Sioux Falls Oct. 8.

On the season, Leichtnam has 42 tackles, 2 interceptions and 8 passes defensed for the Mustangs (4-2 overall).

Blooming Prairie grad Scott Romeo has played in one game this season for St. Cloud State University (3-3 overall) and he tallied 2 tackles in that contest.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Brooke Pazurek of Austin is playing college soccer for the University of Northwestern in St. Paul. Pazurek, who is a freshman defender, has played five games and 62 minutes for the Eagles (6-5 overall).
