Sandy L. Wheeler, 76, of Austin, Minnesota, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society – Comforcare.

Sandy was born Nov. 5, 1939, in Austin, Minnesota, to Maynard and Esther (Morey) Pratt. She attended school in Austin and was a lifelong Austin resident. Sandy married Warren Wheeler on Aug. 8, 1959, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. The Wheelers spent their summers on Lake Mille Lacs for many years, enjoying the sunsets and fishing. She also loved to swim. Sandy raised Persian cats that were the love of her life as well as her family’s dogs. She especially loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren and friends; she was a mom to everyone. Throughout her life, Sandy struggled with her health, but she always kept a positive attitude and was encouraging to others. She was the sunshine and love of everybody’s lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Cliff and Maynard Pratt.

Sandy is survived by her husband: Warren Wheeler, Austin, Minnesota; children: Jamey Wheeler, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Heidi (Darryl) Sanden, Northrop, Minnesota, and Holly Anderst (Mark Shimko), St. Cloud, Minnesota; five grandchildren: J.D. Sanden, Ceylon, Minnesota, Jacob Sanden, Fairmont, Minnesota, Andy Sanden, Fairmont, Minnesota, Derek Anderst, St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and Danielle (Lee) Kiedrowski, Grand Forks, North Dakota; great granddaughter: Lucy Kiedrowski; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, June 24, 2016, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Mark Niethammer officiating, Pianist will be Ryan Hulshizer and soloist will be Michael Veldman. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
