The Hayfield baseball team couldn’t hold on to an early lead as it lost 3-2 to Byron (4-8 overall, 4-5 HVL) in Hayfield Monday.

The Vikings (6-6 overall, 4-6 HVL) led 2-0 early, but the Bears chipped away until they scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning.

“We had chances with runners in scoring position, but we couldn’t get it done,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said.
