Jean E. Gosha, 89, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.

Jean was born Oct. 6, 1926, to William and Evelyn (Paschelka) Ross in Alta Vista, Iowa. When she was a child, her family moved to Taopi, Minnesota. She graduated from Adams High School in 1944. After high school, she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the Veteran’s Administration during the war. After the war ended, she returned to Austin.

Jean married Vernon Gosha at St. Olaf Lutheran Church on Dec. 28, 1946. In 1954, she and Vernon purchased a home where they raised their five children and she continued to live until her recent move to St. Mark’s due to her health. She became a waitress at the Kingswood Hotel, which is now the Gerard Academy, and later at the Red Cedar Inn. In 1963, she went to work at the law department at the Geo. A. Hormel Company and eventually became the executive secretary for Dick Knowlton and then Bill Hunter until her retirement in 1987.

Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and dedicated her life to taking care of her son, Tom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon in 2003; son Craig; brothers Duane, Dale, and Roland Ross; and sister Darlene Hemly.

Jean is survived by her children, Mike (Sue) Gosha, Austin, Minnesota, Doug Gosha, Rochester, Minnesota, Tom Gosha, Austin, Minnesota, and Mary Gosha, Rochester, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Matt (Jennifer) Gosha, Austin, Minnesota, Natalie (Troy) Nantke, Plymouth, Minnesota, Andy (Tanya) Gosha, Maple Grove, Minnesota, Trista Gaucher, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Adam (Laura) Gaucher, Minneapolis, Minnesota; six great-grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Delaney, Nora, Hanna and Tess; sister, LaRae Rarer, St. Paul, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Todd Portinga, AiM officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday for one hour before the service. Music will be by Neal Erickson and casket bearers will be Adam Gaucher, Andy Gosha, Matt Gosha, Michael Gosha, Alex Gosha and Troy Nantke. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to St. Olaf Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.
