Get to Know: Austin senior Victoria Hepler

Victoria Hepler is a senior is a senior thrower on the Austin track and field team.

Q: How did you originally get into your sport?

A: I started Track in middle school and have been a part of it ever since.

Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?

A: My favorite memory was by far the last home meet we had last year. I made it to finals in discus, something I never dreamed of. It was an honor to be able to compete against so many amazing women athletes.

Q: What have you learned from playing sports?

A: Teamwork and Leadership are the two that really stick out of me. By being a captain of both my sports I’ve learned what it takes to really lead to a team. I’ve learned to work with all types of people and I am beyond happy that I had the opportunity to do so.

Q: What is the hardest part about your sport?

A: In the beginning of the season we are preparing to get to our best athletic ability, so having those hard practices are maybe the hardest part. Another reason is the harsh weather we deal with being an outside sport. Pushing through the cold weather is another hard part.

Q: Who is your biggest sports role model and why?

A: My brother Cory is actually my biggest sports role model. He was a striving football player, and in the beginning of his junior year he tore his ACL. After many months of working hard to recover he got back on the field better than ever. His drive and ambition is truly inspiring.

Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?

A: The Bachelor/Bachelorette. Cheesy, I know but I love it.

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: Math and Science are a fair tie.

Q: What is your dream job?

A: To become a Radiologist, and maybe even expand even more!

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Spaghetti and Cinnamon Rolls

Q: What are your plans after high school?

A: Go to Riverland and finish my associate’s, go into their 2 year Radiology program. Then transfer to either St. Cloud State or Concordia.

Q: What’s a fun fact about you or hobby you enjoy most people don’t know about?

A: I love to travel. I have been to India, Mexico, Dominican Republic, numerous different states and this summer I am traveling to Italy.

Q: What are your top three pump songs before a big game?

A: “Work” By Rihanna, anything Beyonce, and anything by The Weekend

Q: What are your top three guilty pleasure songs?

A: Anything by Justin Bieber.
