Hayfield senior Aaron Younge had the shooting night of his life as the No. 6 seeded Vikings beat No. 11 Zumbrota-Mazeppa (7-16 overall) 64-39 in the first round of the Section 1AA boys basketball tournament in Hayfield Thursday.

Younge went 8-for-9 on three-pointers as he finished with a career-high 29 points.

“It was fun to watch. He was just on fire,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said.

Younge went on a personal 11-2 run in the first few minutes of the second half to give Hayfield a 34-19 lead.

The Vikings will now play No. 3 Saint Charles in the Section 1AAA quarterfinals in Mayo Civic Center 7:30 p.m. Monday.
