The No. 3 seeded Blooming Prairie girls basketball team beat No. 6 Southland (8-15 overall) 47-44 in overtime in a Section 1A West quarterfinal game in BP Thursday.

BP (15-10 overall) led by as many as eight points in the second half, but the Rebels came back to force overtime. Kaalyn Naatz had 11 points and 11 rebounds for BP and Kylie Forystek had eight points, five rebounds, six assists, three blocks and three steals.

“If there was one team that I really didn’t want to see opposite us after seeding, it was Southland. They are a solid, well coached team with very good athletes,” BP head coach John Bruns said. “They play some of the best teams around in their conference and non conference schedule so their record is not a great indicator of how good they really are.”
