Austin students receive awards at music contest

The Austin High School music department had a successful day at region/state music contests on Jan. 23 at Lakeville South High School. Over 200 students participated and garnered more than 100 superior ratings and 100 excellent ratings. There were 12 perfect scores of 40 earned by choir, band, and orchestra student performances. The highlight of the day was the three AHS ensembles receiving a best of site rating, which is awarded to the top performance that a judge has heard for the entire day.
An Austin High School vocal ensemble received a best of site 2016 award at the music contest Jan. 23, including Noelan Riley, Patrick Sheehan, Arn Huizinga, Noah Lund, Joe Kroymann, Zeke Peters, Trent Brown.
