I have always felt that the need for a student to understand why they are in school is vitally important to their success.

With the first semester of the 2015-2016 school year coming to an end, some of our students are nearing the end of their Austin Schools’ experience while others are just beginning. I know that each student is at varying stages of understanding why they are in school and therefore, still wondering what their future successes might be.

But one important factor for each student has been to build a strong foundation in the Austin School District for whatever their future may be. Our community, our staff and our parents have worked hard to create the best experiences for our students to build the foundation and to begin fulfilling their dreams.

Those dreams are as varied as each individual student, and everyone has tried to provide a varied set of experiences for each student so they can see what the future may hold.

In the end, however, it is up to each student to make the most of their school days, to take advantage of those experiences and to begin to understand the purpose of school that helps create a vision for their possible future.

We all wish each student, no matter if they are a kindergarten student or a senior in high school, the best and we want them to know each and every person in the community wants them to achieve their dream.
