Austin grads Gach Gach and AJ Nywesh squared off for the first time as opponents in a Division I NJCAA college basketball game Wednesday night.

Gach and North Dakota State College of Sciences got the upper hand as they downed Nywesh’s Lake Region State College team 94-78.

Gach, a freshman at NDSCS (13-6 overall), finished with 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks, while shooting 4-for-5 from the field.

Nywesh, a sophomore at LRS (16-5 overall), poured in 25 points to go with his five rebounds and six assists. He shot 9-for-14 from the field and 6-for-10 on three-pointers.

Gach and Nywesh will face off again Feb. 7.
