Jean ‘Jeanne’ Sweeney, 64

Jean “Jeanne” Sweeney, formerly of Dexter, Minnesota, passed away Nov. 28, 2015, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, after a brief illness.

Born Jean Mary Gordon on Dec. 17, 1950, in Rochester, Jeanne lived in Dexter and attended Elkton High School, graduating in 1968. She married Marvin Sweeney on Jan. 11, 1971, and moved to Alexandria, Virginia, then relocated to Winston-Salem in 1980.

They had two daughters, Dianne (Everett) Buswell, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Brenda (Jason) Smith, of Winston-Salem. Jean worked for Allegheny Airlines and later for U.S. Air, until retiring in 2005.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; both parents, Samuel and Madelyn; and a brother, Daniel.

She is survived by her daughters; six grandchildren: Maxx, Daulton, and Irelyn Buswell, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Justin, Caden and Addison Smith of Winston-Salem; two sisters: Elizabeth Gordon, of Eyota, and Margaret Reed of Rochester; and six brothers: Samuel Gordon of Eyota, Randy (Marilyn) Gordon of South Dakota, Michael Gordon of Austin, Timothy Gordon of Dexter, John Gordon of Ellendale and Wade Gordon of Mankato.

A memorial service will be held at a later day, with interment at Carimona Cemetery, near Preston.
