MINNEAPOLIS — Holiday travelers streaming through the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Thursday saw some minor weather delays during the Twin Cities’ first snowfall of the year, but largely avoided additional security measures like those in place at other metropolitan airports.

About 110,000 people were expected to pass through the MSP airport on Thursday, where the security procedures have remained “on high alert,” said airport spokesman Patrick Hogan. Although travelers may be nervous in the aftermath of the attacks in Paris, he said, people will not see any changes to the airport’s typical safety procedures.

“The events in Paris, while certainly everybody is aware of them and there’s an extra vigilance as a result — both on the part of the airport and travelers — the security process itself has not changed,” Hogan said.

Although Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said there was no specific information about a U.S. threat, some airports have increased security patrols and bolstered screening processes this weekend, when roughly 25 million Americans are expected to travel by air.

About an inch of snow had fallen at MSP by Thursday afternoon, causing minor delays but no cancellations.
