Rose Creek man dies in farm accident

A 27-year-old Rose Creek man died after a farm accident last weekend in rural Lyle.

Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi confirmed Ryan Holdgrafer passed away Sunday after being struck in the head and neck by a skid loader bucket that was attached incorrectly around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Amazi said Holdgrafer was working to pound in posts for a hoop building on a cattle farm when the incident occurred on the 5000 block of 140th Street in rural Lyle.

Along with Mower County deputies, the Austin Police Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, Lyle and London first responders, and Mayo One responded to the scene.

According to his obituary, Holdgrafer was a welder and farmer, and he enjoyed raising cattle, working on machinery, attending farm auctions and helping his neighbors.

Holdgrafer leaves behind a fiancé and three children.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, 308 Lewison St. NW, Adams, with the Reverend Jeremy Johnson and the Reverend Charlie Leonard officiating.

Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home, 300 W. Main St., on Friday, Nov. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday for one hour before the service.
