Marilyn Jean Knutson, 85, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Saturday morning, Nov. 7, 2015, at the Prairie Manor Center in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.

The daughter of Peter and Hilda (Aldahl) Knutson, Marilyn was born July 16, 1930, at home in Dodge County, Minnesota. Marilyn was baptized on Aug. 17, 1930, and confirmed on June 17, 1944, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. She attended country school and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1948. Over the next 30 years Marilyn was employed at Norm Peterson Insurance, later at Federated Insurance, and retired from Owatonna Canning Company in Owatonna, Minnesota. Marilyn enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bowling, and working on puzzles. She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. In 2008, Marilyn moved to Prairie Villa I.

Marilyn is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Knutson; brother-in-law, Donald Yentsch of Blooming Prairie; nieces and nephews: Judy (Wayde) Bishop, Allen “Butch” (Diane) Anderson, Jan Anderson, Arden (Karla) Anderson, Dean Knutson, all of  Blooming Prairie, Janine (Mick) Brooks of Austin, Debra (Terry) Hoffman of Owatonna, Denise (Larry) Brekke of Owatonna, LeAnn (Dennis) Repp of Osakis, Kristal (Doug) Paulson of Albert Lea, and Marilyn Yentsch of Janesville, Minnesota; many great nieces and nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Ordell and Charles; sisters: Phyllis (Gerth) Anderson and Elayne Yentsch; five nephews: David Anderson, Arlen Anderson, Paul Knutson, Dennis Yentsch and Douglas Yentsch; and her great niece Anna Hoffman.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday afternoon from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at First Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church or Prairie Manor Care Center.
