Kenneth Frederick Goergen, 78 of Adams, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 20, 2015.

Kenny was born Dec. 29, 1936 in Stacyville, Iowa to Isidore and Madie (Schwartz) Goergen. He attended St. John’s School in Johnsburg, Minnesota. He married Louise Retterath on Oct. 14, 1958.

They farmed in rural Adams and then moved to Adams. Kenny worked at the local creamery. Then Kenny went to work for Stacyville Cooperative elevator in Stacyville, Iowa and moved to the Adams division where he retired from in 2001.

Kenny was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Johnsburg and later Sacred Heart Church, Adams. He was Justice of the Peace in Adams and also a member of the Adams Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed socializing with friends and family while playing cards, rolling dice, and betting on the dogs. He gave everyone he met his or her own nicknames.

Kenny is survived by his loving wife and caretaker of 57 years, Louise Goergen, Adams; children: Nancy (Terry) Frost, Tripoli, Iowa. Butch (Connie) Goergen, Adams, Doug (Michelle) Goergen, Dexter, Minnesota, Debbie (Jason) Williamson, Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;  brother: Jerome (Mary) Goergen, Austin, Minnesota; sisters: Gladys (Jim) Hemann, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Dorothy (Tom, deceased) Cummings, Austin; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isidore and Madie Goergen, and two premature sons.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 4 p.m. Visitation will also be on Wednesday at the Adams Funeral Home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
