Members of the Austin Public Schools’ Music Department are presenting a one-of-a-kind musical variety show featuring faculty, students, alumni, and friends. Audiences will hear popular ensembles like Austin High School’s Jazz Band and Austinaires as well as some of Austin’s best solo artists and groups — such as Jesse Smith, The Peter Jacobs Jazz Combo, The Anderson Family Singers, and many more. Hosted by Alice Holst, this nostalgic holiday special will raise funds for music and instruments for students in grades first through 12th. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door and $5 for students, and can be purchased through the Austin Area Commission for the Arts at 300 North Main Street or austinareaarts.org.

In addition to our concerts, there is another fun event for families with children birth to age 8. Be sure to check out the Santa Workshop at the Community Learning Center located at 912 First Avenue NE on Thursday, Dec. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be stories, songs, art projects and treats. Santa will be available for visiting and photos so please bring your camera. This is a free event sponsored by Early Childhood Family Education.
