The Austin City Council approved costs pertaining to the Highway 105 mill and overlay planned through Austin next year.

The council approved $338,004 — $319,158 for state aid and $18,846 in local dollars — for parking lanes on 12th Street Southwest, pedestrian lights, bike symbols and striping improvements. The $18,846 in local funds is expected come through the Waste Water Treatment Plant Fund.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is slated to begin the project in spring 2016, likely in May if weather permits.

The work will be on Oakland Avenue West from 12th Street Southwest to Interstate 90 and on 12th Street from Oakland to the Turtle Creek Bridge.

Along with the road replacement, the work will include new signal lights at Kwik Trip and Walgreens and storm sewer improvements at designated intersections.
