The Austin girls tennis team lost 5-2 at Rochester John Marshall Thursday.

The No. 3 doubles team of Erin Anderson and Kelsey Ross gutted out their first win of the season for the Packers (1-7 overall, 1-7 Big Nine) as they won 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Austin’s number one doubles team of Elizabeth Ettinger and Taylor Tauchnitz lost the third set on an 8-6 tie-breaker.

“Our doubles teams all played well today,” Austin head coach Levon Larson said. “Anderson and Ross really showed positive energy on the court. While it was a tough loss [for Ettinger and Tauchnitz], the two put up a great fight in their marathon match. I am really proud of our team’s play today, and I am hoping the players use this as fuel as we head into our final weeks of conference matches.”
