Hounds sweep doubleheader

The Austin Greyhounds took a pair of games in a doubleheader Tuesday night against the Rochester Red Legs at Marcusen Park.

They took the first game 5-0 and the second game 12-2.

Weston Hanson pitched seven innings in game one, giving up five hits and striking out 6.

The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the first when Nate Conner scored following his lead-off triple. The Hounds then padded the lead with two more runs in the second and a run in both the fourth and sixth innings.

Conner was 2-for-4 that included the triple and and a double that that fell just off the center fielder’s glove.

In game two the Hounds exploded in a nine-run fifth inning to blast past the Red Legs. Austin held a 2-1 lead after three innings before piling on the runs in the fifth with a collection of singles, walks and one hit-by-pitch.

Josh Evans was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored while Alex Ciola was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs and two runs scored.

On the mound Grant Oldenborg took the win, going the distance and giving up just two runs off five hits and striking out four.

The Hounds are in Burnsville Wednesday night and then back at Marcusen on Thursday to host Marcusen. These final two games will determine seeding for the playoffs which will start next week.
