First Congregational United Church of Christ will hold a public screening and community conversation of the film “Arrival: Finding Home” from KSMQ Public Television at 3 p.m. Aug. 2.

“This is an inspiring film of perseverance of these women and their struggles to find a safe home. They beautifully demonstrate Paul’s words ‘for we walk by faith, not by sight,’” said Pastor Shari Mason in a press release, while referencing 2 Corinthians 5:7.

“Arrival: Finding Home” follows the challenges and sacrifices of five women as they arrive in a new country.

The film highlights work being done at Austin Public School’s Woodson Kindergarten Center for students of immigrating families.

Kathy Stutzman, producer of the film and conversation facilitator, called it a “very rich and inspiring” story.

First Congregational, 1910 Third Ave. NW, sponsored the creation of educational material packets, including a DVD of the film, for groups to hold their own screening and community conversation. There are a few copies still available.
