First of all, we would like to thank the community for all the donations to The Salvation Army, be it, food, clothing, merchandise, furniture or monetary … this greatly helps provide many much needed services to our Mower county residences. We do have some upcoming events we would like to get out there for all to participate in if possible. The Salvation Army believes in faith put into action, Christianity with its sleeves rolled up.

Starting June 8, we have our summer day camp starting, this is for children who are starting the first grade next year up to age 12. It runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday with all kinds of fun events and lots of learning and activities planned. Summer camp runs through Aug. 14. There is a $50 registration fee per family and a sliding fee scale based on your income. More information is available at the office or by calling 507-437-4566.

We have a food drive planned for July 4, we will be walking carts along the parade route collecting food donations as there is always a bigger need for the food shelf once the kids are out of school.

We are always looking for dedicated volunteers for the food shelf, thrift store, community meal and for janitorial duties in the main building. If interested in becoming a volunteer please contact our volunteer coordinator Kris Maier.

Help is given freely without regard to race, gender, culture or religion. In giving these services The Salvation Army believes preserving an individuals dignity is crucial and for people to truly prosper, assistance must go beyond meeting the immediate, tangible need and address the larger issues. Please help us help others.
