Lucille Sarah (Bump) Ehmke, 88, of Austin, Minnesota, died at her home on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.

Lucille was born on Sept. 13, 1926, in Toeterville, Iowa, to William and Laura (Toeter) Bruggemann. She attended country school near St. Ansgar, Iowa, and graduated from Austin High School in 1944. She married Claude Bump on June 1, 1947, at St. Johns Lutheran Parsonage by the Rev. W.F. Milbrath. They were married for 53 years. Lucille married Martin Ehmke at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on July 5, 2003. They enjoyed nearly 12 years of marriage together and especially loved spending winters in Phoenix, Arizona, where Lucille had wintered from 1978 through this past winter.

Lucille worked as an insurance agent at Austin State Bank for 27 years. She loved flowers, specifically roses, and she enjoyed cooking. Throughout her life, Lucille was a caretaker and very giving; she especially cared for her mother, sister, and husbands. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary No. 27 where she served as president and she was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Dorothy and Della, and first husband Claude Bump.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Martin Ehmke, Austin, Minnesota; stepchildren: Steven (Phyllis) Ehmke, Kansas City, Missouri, LaVerne Ehmke, Rose Creek, Minnesota, Merlin (Lori) Ehmke, Waterloo, Indiana, and Julie (Steve) Mullen, Rochester, Minnesota; and 17 step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 18, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Glenn L. Monson officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and at the church on Monday for one hour before the service. Memorials may be designated to Disabled American Veterans or to the donor’s choice.
