Clifford R. “Randy” Dawes, 65, of Bonita Springs, Florida, died Saturday, May 2, 2015, following a seven year battle with ALS.

Formerly of Austin, Minnesota, he had been a winter resident of Bonita Springs for several years before moving there permanently in 2014. Clifford was born June 15, 1949, in Perry, Iowa, a son of Lowell E. and Helen (Wicks) Dawes. Randy graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelors Degree of Animal Science. His career was spent working for Hormel Foods Corporation for over 38 years, retiring in 2009. Mr. Dawes was an avid golfer who belonged to the Austin Country Club in Austin, Minnesota, and Highland Woods Country Club in Bonita Springs, Florida. He was also a sports enthusiast and fan of the Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs and especially the Iowa State Cyclones. Randy is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marilyn S. (Eckerman) Dawes; children: Lori (Ben) Davis of Elko, Minnesota, and Brent (Annie) Dawes of Burnsville, Minnesota; parents, Lowell and Helen Dawes of Adel, Iowa; siblings: Nick (Peg) Dawes of Adel, Iowa, John Dawes of Sedalia, Missouri, and Barbara Sadley of St. Marys, Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at a later date in Minnesota and will be announced. Memorial contributions to help fund ALS Research may be made in Randy’s name to the ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 6051, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
