Austin senior Kenzi Steinbrink finished her softball career strong but it wasn’t enough as the Packers had their season come to an end in a 4-2 to loss to No. 7 seeded Owatonna in a Section 1AAA tournament game in Hastings Wednesday.

Steinbrink allowed zero earned runs in the game, but the Huskies took the lead for good when they scored four runs off of four Austin errors in the third inning.

“[Steinbink] pitched outstanding. She did everything that we could ask of her. If you don’t make the plays, you’re going to get beat,” Austin head coach Al Eckmann said.

Shayley Vesel and Jordan Huntley each knocked in a run for the Packers (6-15 overall). Eckmann said he enjoyed working with his team this season.

“This has been the greatest bunch of girls I’ve ever worked with. They really love softball and they’re number one in my heart,” Eckmann said.
