The No. 5 seeded Lyle-Pacelli baseball team kept its season alive when it beat No. 3 Medford 6-5 in a Section 1A West elimination game in Riverland Saturday.

The Athletics opened the day by dropping a Section 1A West semifinal game to Goodhue 9-3 and LP will play the loser of the Hayfield vs. Goodhue game 5:30 p.m. Monday with a trip to the Section 1A tournament on the line.

LP trailed Medford 5-1 when Jordan Hart blasted a two-run homer to make it 5-3. The Athletics took the lead when Jordan Cotter knocked in a run.

Daniel Bollingberg picked up the win in relief by pitching three perfect innings a day after he pitched against Randolph.

“After Jordan hit the home run to make it 5-3, I knew I had to put Daniel in to keep it at that score to give us a chance,” LP head coach Brock Meyer said.
