David Hill, 61, of Waseca, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis as a result of a heart attack suffered early on Monday, April 13.

David Rae, son of John and Gloria (Ehlo) Hill was born on March 3, 1954, in Austin, Minnesota. He attended Adams High School and graduated in 1972. While in the sixth grade, he met his future wife, Vickie Gladitsch, while riding by on his horse. They remained childhood sweethearts until they married on Sept. 1, 1973, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minnesota. In June of 1972, he started his 43-year career working at OTC, currently known as Amesbury Truth Hardware in Owatonna. Dave enjoyed farming, woodworking, and riding his horses. He especially loved his family and his friends. He truly cared for those around him, always offering his assistance to others in any way that he could.

David is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Hill of Waseca; grandchildren: John and Andrew Hoelscher; children: Shauna (Matthew) Hoelscher of Hartland, and Mark (Wendy) Hill of Waseca; mother, Gloria Hill of Adams; siblings: John Douglas “JD” Hill of St. Ansger, Iowa, Barbara (Lowell) Franzen of Lyle, Minnesota, Marjorie (Kevin) Bartholmey of Adams, and Duane (Missy) Hill of Adams; mother and father-in-law, Edward “Tubby” and June Wolf of Adams; sister and brothers-in-law, DeYonne (Paul) Farr of Table Grove, Illinois, Delvin (fiancé, Linn) Gladitsch of Peoria, Illinois, Kevin (Sheila) Gladitsch of Blaine, Minnesota, and Bryan Gladitsch of Anoka, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Hill; his grandparents; his brothers-in-law, Keith Wilhelm and Lon Gladitsch; and by his special neighbor and friend, Lowell Dahl.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca with Pastor John Omans officiating. Memorial visitation will be held prior to services at the church on Sunday from 12 to 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are being completed by McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church or to cancer research.
