An 18-year-old Coon Rapids man is accused of raping an Austin woman last fall.

Javiv Lufti Anglo pleaded not guilty Thursday in Mower County to one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to court complaints, Anglo and his father visited the victim’s family on Sept. 1. Anglo got into an argument with his father, who left to go back to the Twin Cities.

That night, the victim put children to bed around 9:30 p.m. and was in the kitchen when Anglo allegedly approached her and grabbed her breasts. The victim allegedly pulled away and told Anglo his actions were “not right,” but Anglo allegedly ignored the victim and sexually assaulted her, according to the complaint.

The next day, Anglo allegedly apologized to the victim when she drove him to a bus stop to go back to the Cities, and blamed his actions on his fight with his father.

Minnetonka police spoke with Anglo on Sept. 11, where he said he and the victim allegedly had sex after she initially resisted, but he had talked her into it. He told police he had sex to de-stress after the fight with his father.

Anglo was originally charged as a juvenile last October, but Mower County District Court Judge Jeff Kritzer ordered Anglo to be tried as an adult last month when Anglo turned 18.
