Austin cop honored for DWI enforcement; McCormack had 3 DWI cases in a single shift, twice

One area police officer was honored Monday for his dedication to preventing drunk driving.

Austin Police Sgt. Jeff McCormack earned a Hat Trick Award under the state’s Toward Zero Deaths initiative for processing three drunk driving cases in a single shift, which McCormack did twice last year.

“Jeff McCormack is my hero,” Scott McConkey of the state’s Office of Public Safety said. “He’s made a lifelong career of making DWI a priority”

McCormack is a three-time DWI All-Star winner for his numerous DWI arrests and will earn his fourth All-Star award this summer.

He has spent 19 years with the Austin Police Department.
