For the second straight year, Wyatt Richardson of Grand Meadow-LeRoy-Ostrander-Kingsland-Southland is in the state semifinals.

Richardson, a senior, pinned Dakotah Neid of Pine City-Hinckley-Finlayson in the second period in his first match at 195 and he beat Wyatt Juhl of Big Lake 3-1 in the quarterfinals.

Richardson, who is 35-0, will face Lance Benick, who is 41-0, of Totino-Grace in the semifinals.

Blake Benson, a GMLOKS sophomore, picked up a first period period pin over Randy Gehl of St. Croix Lutheran in the first round at 285 pounds, but he lost 4-3 to Sam Anderson of Totino-Grace in the quarterfinals.

Benson had a chance at third place in the wrestlebacks.

Parker Hale, a junior at GMLOKS, suffered a tough opening loss at 152 pounds against Parker Jackson of Detroit Lakes. Hale had the lead at times, but in the end he couldn’t come up with an escape in the last 30 seconds as he lost a 12-11 decision.
