Ida Josephine Wicks, 92, of Faribault and formerly of Austin, died of natural causes at her home on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015.

Ida was the eighth child born to Alexander and Alvina (Quimette) Martin on Sept. 6, 1922, on the family farm in Crystal Lake Township (Comstock) Wisconsin.

On Dec. 4, 1942, Ida married Walter Joseph Wicks. After Walter returned home from the war, they resided in Austin and raised five children. They were members of St. Augustine Parish. Ida was a homemaker her entire life.

After Walter’s death in 1978, Ida continued to live in Austin until 1998, until she moved to Faribault.

Ida had been a member of the Eagle’s Club in Austin for several years. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing, camping, crafting and playing cards.

Ida is survived by her five children: Walter (Elaine) Wicks Jr. of Albert Lea, Judy (Dave) Bunde of Stewartville, Larry (Bette) Wicks of Warsaw, Minnesota, Debra (BJ) Schrank of Blooming Prairie, Jerry Wicks of Northfield; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

Ida is preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter; four brothers; four sisters; and one grandson.

A funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Mayer Funeral Home is entrusted with Ida’s arrangements. Online Condolences-www.mayerfh.com.
