Superintendent David Krenz swore in the new and re-elected school board members on Monday at noon in Austin High School’s District Conference room.

Newest member Peggy Young, along with incumbents Don Fox, Kathy Green and Angie Goetz recited the oath of office and promised to support the constitution of both the United State and Minnesota while performing the duties of a school board member to the best of their judgement and abilities.

The board also voted on members to fill the board positions: Angie Goetz was voted chair, Don Fox vice-chair, Mary Jane Kestner clerk, and Don Leathers was voted treasurer.

Board members chose the Austin Daily Herald as the official newspaper for publication of minutes and official notices.

The board approved a resolution supporting the 2015 Safe Routes to School Infrastructure grant application and the city of Austin’s proposed beacon systems project. The city of Austin, along with Vision 2020 Trails committee and the Austin Public Schools have collaborated to complete a Safe Routs to Schools assessment and plan to improve safety on routes that students bike and/or walk to the four elementary schools and I.J. Holton Intermediate School.
