The Austin boys hockey team had a tough call go against it down the stretch in a 2-1 loss at Winona (5-16 overall, 5-12 Big Nine) Thursday.

The Packers (3-12-1 overall, 0-8-1 Big Nine) thought they had tied the game with a goal with three minutes left, but after initially being called a goal, it was waved off.

Austin out-shot the Winhawks 14-2 in the third period and it held a 30-15 shot advantage on the night.

“It was the same game as the last time we played them,” Austin head coach Erik LaRock said. “We played awful in the first two periods and in the the third period we showed up.”

The Packers pulled to within 2-1 when Kenny Ree scored on assists from Blake Halsey and Daniel Bollingberg.
