Junior Lee Conner, 86, of Austin, died on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at Our House Memory Care in Austin.

Junior was born in Le Mars, Iowa, on May 26, 1928, to Nathan and Eva (Miller) Conner. He attended grade school in the Iowa area and ended up working for local farmers there after his education. Junior drove for a cab company in La Mars when he was older. During this time, Junior met his future bride Darlene Sanow. They were married on Aug. 29, 1950, in Remsen, Iowa.

Junior worked on the Great Northern Railroad and also for the Armour Food Company in Mason City as a meat packer. Junior and Darlene and family moved to Minnesota in the early 1960’s. He spent a lot of time over the last couple of decades following his children and grandchildren’s activities.

Junior enjoyed his time by watching birds and squirrels. He liked growing tomatoes, working in his garage, spending time with his family, playing his guitar and singing Ernest Tubb songs. Junior was always a jokester who enjoyed the television shows of Johnny Carson, Archie Bunker and the Jeffersons.

Junior is survived his wife, Darlene of Austin; children: Bruce Conner of Austin, Barb (John) Parmenter of Austin, Dean (Wendy) Conner of Austin, Gene Conner and significant other Kathy of Austin, Betty (Daryl) Griese of Austin, Rick (Lori) Conner of Bloomington, Debora Conner and significant other Don of Austin, Penny Conner and significant other Dave of Sargeant, Bonnie (John) Morrison of Humboldt; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Sandra Kai of Le Mars, Iowa, Larry Conner of Le Mars, Iowa, Anthony Conner (Gretchen) of Creighton, Missouri; special nephew Kevin (Malia) Mouser of Remson, Iowa; and other family members Ward “Pete” (Sue) Freese of Blooming Prairie, and Brian Dodd of Austin.

Junior is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Fay Enfield, daughters-in-laws Dianna Conner and Linda Conner.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Mayer Funeral Home with Lieutenant Dave Amick officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Online Condolences- www.mayerfh.com.
