Bruins lose shootout to Minotauros for second straight night

For the second straight night, the Austin Bruins missed a chance to gain ground on the NAHL Central Division leading Minot Minotauros.

In what was the final meeting of the season between the two teams, the Bruins lost 3-2 in a shootout in Riverside Arena Saturday.

The Bruins went 0-for-4 in the shootout and Minto’s Colton Kramer, who used to play with the Bruins, sealed the game with the Minotauros’ second shootout goal.

Just like Friday’s game, Austin took the early lead when Nico Strum scored a shorthanded goal to put the Bruins up 2-1. But Minot forced overtime when James Mathias scored a power play goal with 7:40 left in the game.

The Bruins (18-9-10 overall) now trail Minot (24-8-4 overall) by six points in the NAHL Central with 23 games left on Austin’s schedule.
