The Austin girls hockey team lost 3-1 at Faribault (12-8 overall, 7-7 Big Nine) Saturday.

Madison Overby scored Austin’s lone goal on a power play on an assist from Brandi Meyers. Mara Overby had 40 saves for the Packers (10-9-2 overall, 7-7 Big Nine).

“Our girls played a great game overall,” Austin head coach Brett Vesel said. “We ended up in the box more than we should have but overcame most of that with a great penalty kill. The puck found the net for them on a couple goals that took some weird bounces. We will see them again in the playoffs so we will have a chance to redeem ourselves. “
