Rosa Palma-Neri

Rosa Palma-Neri is the Noon Kiwanis Student of the Month for November. Rosa is a senior at Austin High School. In the nomination submittal for her, she is described as “a fireball of energy.” It goes on to say “her smile is infectious, as is her laughter. She is a hardworking young lady, great student, as well as a role model to her peers and also younger students through mentoring for the REACH program.”

Academic Achievements: Throughout high school, I have enrolled in many Pre-AP and AP courses. This year I took the opportunity to take post-secondary classes through Riverland Community College.

Activities (music, sports, community): One of the things I am very involved in is the music program offered at the high school. I am a part of concert choir and I play the viola in concert orchestra. I am also part of Choralaires, an all-female singing group. I am also part of Youth Leadership and DECA. And I am a head leader of Link Crew and a mentor in the REACH program.

Potential college Plans: I plan to attend Riverland Community College for one year and then I plan on applying to the University of Minnesota– Duluth.

A person who has had a positive impact in your academic or school life: I have many people who have had a positive impact in my life, but Mrs. Kirsten Lindbloom has impacted my school life overall. She is my Link Crew advisor. She has helped me so much in the two years I have known her. She has helped me recognize and better things about myself. She has pushed me to do my best and to be confident. Most important, she has given me a special gift — the gift of acceptance and of always being there for me. I am blessed to have someone in my life like her, and I hope one day I can provide that for someone else.

Plans for the future: I plan on going to a four year college after Riverland; the University of Minnesota – Duluth is one of my top colleges in mind. And my dream job is somewhere in the medical field. I am just not sure what yet. I also have the Air Force in mind. All I know is that my future is full of adventures and new experiences.
