The Lyle-Pacelli football team had plenty of offense, but it couldn’t overcome a slow start as its season came to an end in a 91-58 loss at No. 3 seeded Mabel-Canton (6-3 overall) in the Section 1 nine man football quarterfinals Tuesday.

The No. 6 seeded Athletics (2-7 overall) trailed 28-0 early on and then the game turned into a shootout. Both teams combined for more than 50 points in the second quarter.

“Once we got going, we were basically exchanging touchdowns the whole way. Nobody was playing defense after that first quarter,” LP head coach Jeremy Wilson said. “It was a crazy game.”
