Bruins open season with a 5-2 win over Michigan

Three Austin Bruins scored their first career NAHL goals as the Bruins opened their season with a 5-2 win over the Michigan Warriors in the NAHL Showcase in Blaine Wednesday.

Austin (1-0 overall) was clinging to a 3-2 lead in the third period when Michigan missed a game-tying penalty shot. The Bruins put the game away when Brian Bachnak scored a power play goal with 2:21 left in the game.

St. Cloud State University commit Zach Driscoll stopped 24 shots to get his first career NAHL win for Austin.

Luke Forfar, who is from Darien, Ill., JC Maclean, who is from Basking Ridge, N.J., and John Chorzempa, who is from Andover, Maryland, all scored their first goal for the Bruins.
