Muy! Pizza Minnesota, a large-scale franchisee of Pizza Hut, plans to open a full-service dine-in restaurant at 1004 18th Ave. NW next year.

“We just think it’s a good community,” said Doug Prickett, director of operations at Muy! Pizza Minnesota. “We think [Pizza Hut] has a lot of benefit there.”

The new Pizza Hut is scheduled to go into the strip mall south of Walmart, which also houses Sun Tan City and Hibbett Sports. Contractors are working on a new suite, which they’ll turn over to Muy! Pizza once it’s finished in early December.

Prickett said Muy! Pizza hopes to open the new location between 45 and 75 days after that.

Muy! Pizza Minnesota also hopes to hire 20 to 30 local residents to run the restaurant, including managerial and salaried positions, according to Prickett.

A previous Pizza Hut location on North Main Street in Austin closed in July 2013.
