It’s fair season in Mower County.

The Mower County Fair begins today and will run through Sunday, Aug. 12. It’s a classic Mower County event and we encourage as many people as possible to come to the fairgrounds and enjoy some events.

There’s a lot of tradition at the fair and that’s something we can take pride in. Area residents can stop out to see Buffy the Cow, a local landmark and folk legend. Buffy was likely created in the 1940s and was on top of the Ankeny Dairy Foods building for decades.

Come see the Mower County Historical Society, which has many exhibits open during the fair and plenty of history to learn.

Let’s not forget the new midway games provided by Gold Star Amusements, which should be quite exciting. And of course, there are plenty of grandstand events to watch and enjoy.

So make sure to stop out at the fair this week. There are a lot of great things to enjoy at the Mower County Fairgrounds.
