A Dawes Rigging and Crane Rental worker injured Friday at a wind turbine six miles south of Grand Meadow has been released from the hospital.

Steve Freckmen, general manager at Dawes, said the worker, a 35-year-old man from Elkhorn, Wisconsin, went home from the hospital on Saturday.

The worker had to be airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester after the crane he operated fell over at about 7:15 a.m. Friday near a wind turbine near County Road 8 and 180th Street.

Officials are still investigating what caused the accident Freckman said the investigation could take some time while experts and, potentially, the crane manufacturer are contacted.

“We’re still gathering information,” he said.

Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said the crane sustained about $3 million in damage, including serious damage to the cab.
