The Austin Fire Department is taking their cause to the streets once more.

Firefighter volunteers will once again be stationed throughout Austin for a Fill the Boot fundraising campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Volunteers will be stationed at Fourth Street and 10th Avenue Northwest, Eighth Avenue and 14th Street Northwest, Oakland Avenue and First Street Northeast, and Eighth Avenue and Eighth Street Northeast from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

“Throughout 2014, MDA and firefighters are celebrating 60 years of proud partnership, joined together in the fight against life-threatening muscle disease,” said Fundraising Coordinator Gina Lansing in a press release.

Funds raised through the 2014 Fill the Boot event will help support MDA’s programs for worldwide research, specializedhealth care services, and day-to-day support — which includes sending children affected by muscular dystrophy and related diseases to a weeklong, barrier-free MDA summer camp at Camp True Friends in Maple Lake, Minnesota.
