The Austin volleyball team opened its season with a loss to Rochester Lourdes in four games in Rochester Friday night.

The Packers lost by scores of 25-17, 12-25, 25-21, 25-10.

Alex Hansen had 14 kills in her first match in two years for the Austin (0-1 overall) as she missed last season with an injury.

“The kids came out and we had a few lumps in the first game, but we really looked good in the second game,” Austin head coach Cindy Owen said. “It was encouraging, because you could see what we’re capable of. We definitely have things work on, but we’ll continue to improve.”
