Three area basketball teams to compete in Pacesetter state championship Saturday

The Austin boys eighth grade basketball team, the Austin girls seventh grade basketball team and the Grand Meadow girls seventh grade basketball team will all compete in the Pacesetter Minnesota Youth Basketball state championship Sunday at St. Ben’s in St. Joseph, Minn.

Over 600 teams played in the 8-region Pacesetter playoff system to earn a berth into the state championship.

The Austin 8th grade boys will play Brainerd at 10:45 a.m. and the championship is set for 4:50 p.m. Other teams in the tourney include Northfield, Perham, Maple River, Northwoods, Marshall and Leech Lake.

The Austin 7th grade girls will play Red Lake at 10 a.m. The Grand Meadow girls will play Willmar at 9:50 a.m.

The championship is set for 3:05 p.m. Other teams in the tourney include Eden Valley-Watkins, Ada-Borup, Deer River and Detroit Lakes.
