Graduations
—Lauren Nelson, of Austin, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science, in chemical engineering from Iowa State University.
—Preston Nibaur, of Austin, graduated cum laude from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, on May 10 with a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry.
Minnesota State College, Southeast Technical
The following local students are 2014 graduates from Minnesota State College, Southeast Technical. Commencement ceremonies were Tuesday, May 13, in Red Wing and Wednesday, May 14, in Winona.
—Daniel Schneider, of Adams, graduated from the Winona campus and received a diploma in carpentry.
—Josh Prehn, of Austin, graduated from the Winona campus and received an associate in applied science degree in network administration and technology.
St. Olaf College
The following local students graduated from St. Olaf College in the class of 2014:
—Timothy Erickson, of Austin, graduated with an exercise science major. He was awarded distinction in exercise science. He is the son of Neal and Liz Erickson.
—Kelsey Fleming, of Austin, graduated with a music education major. She is the daughter of Keith and Kelly Fleming.
—Christian Folken, of Austin, graduated cum laude with a social work major. He is the son of Sherri Crawford.
—Connor Gunderson, of Austin, graduated with a nursing major. He is the son of Brent and Margene Gunderson.
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota
The following students received a bachelor of arts degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota on May 10 in Winona:
—Marilyn Yennie, of Grand Meadow, received a bachelor of arts degree. Parents are Tom and Kim Yennie.
—Kaylee Bunne, of LeRoy, received a bachelor of arts degree. Parents are Dominick and Kathi Bunne.
Dean’s/president’s lists
—Jena Helmbrecht, of Austin, was named to the spring 2014 Dean’s List at Concordia University, St. Paul. Helmbrecht is a senior majoring in instrumental music education, K-12.
—Ashleigh Smith, of Austin, was named to the Black Hills State University spring 2014 dean’s list.
—Preston Nibaur, of Austin, was named to the dean’s list at Morningside College for the 2014 spring semester. He had a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester.
—Kevin Heimermann, of Austin, was named to the honors dean’s list Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota
Three local students were named to the Dean’s List at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota for the second semester:
—John Ethen of Austin. Parents are Jeffrey and Sherry Weaver, and the late Thomars R. Ethen.
