The third annual Darren Dash will take place May 31.

The race, which starts and ends at Veteran’s Pavilion in Austin, honors the life of Austin native and running enthusiast Darren Lewis, who passed away in 2011.

There will be a 5K run, a half marathon and there will be a Kiddie Run at 11 a.m.

Participants may register at www.darrendash.org until May 30 or in person on May 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or 6:45 to 7:45 a.m. on the morning of the race.

Participants will receive a tee shirt.

All proceeds from the race will go towards scholarships for cross country runners at AHS or Lyle-Pacelli, as well as Desperate Tears. Anyone who is willing to volunteer for the event on May 30 or May 31 can contact Scott Lewis at slewistherapy@aol.com
