Southland senior Lukas Anderson did everything he could to lift the Rebels to to a 1-0 win over Winona Cotter (4-3 overall) in Adams Friday.

Anderson pitched a no-hit shutout as he struck out 13 and he knocked in the lone run for the No. 3 ranked Rebels (9-0 overall) in the first inning.

“We didn’t score a lot of runs or get hits, but we got a hit when we needed it and Luke kind of controlled the game today,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said. “That’s what we expect out of him. He threw a few more pitches than I’d like to see, but him being a senior in his fourth year of varsity, I let him go a little longer.”

Southland has rattled off nine straight wins to start the season and six of those wins were shutouts.

“The last three or five games we haven’t scored a lot of runs, but our pitching is carrying us,” Retterath said. “I’d like to see us do a little better job with the bats.”
